10:00 am-4:00 pm
Celebrate biodiversity by volunteering to collect information on wildlife and flora within Arlington County. A BioBlitz is an intense period of biological surveying in an attempt to record all the living wildlife and plant species within a designated area. Groups of scientists, naturalists and volunteers conduct an intensive field study over a 24 hour period. Volunteers will join Arlington staff and other experts from 10 am – 4 pm across many parks throughout Arlington County. Although this is just a “snapshot” of species present found on one day, the data collected will provide an essential understanding of the diversity of flora, fauna and fungi in Arlington County. This data will serve as a foundation for the future development of natural resource management plans for County parks. The main park location will be located at Barcroft Park, but contact Alonso Abugattas at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and additional site locations.
