Nominate a Notable Tree
Since 1987, Arlington has identified and registered its most notable trees, as well as the residents who care for them.
TreeStewards
TreeStewards of Arlington and Alexandria are volunteers who take the lead within their communities to enhance a sustainable urban forest through volunteer activities and public education programs.
Specimen Trees
Designation as ‘Specimen Trees’ through the Tree Preservation Ordinance will result in their protection from removal or injury.
Champion Trees
A Champion Tree is the largest specimen of its species. Species vary in size, age and growth habitat. As a general rule, forest trees will be taller, thinner and have a smaller crown compared to counterparts grown in more open environments.
